Senator Risa Hontiveros has committed to make sure Quezon City Task Force Disiplina Head Rannie Ludovica will be held accountable after he posted on Facebook a “shoot-to-kill” threat against quarantine violators.
“Mula bukas shoot to kill na ang lalabag sa MECQ,” Ludovica wrote in a Facebook post, which he later deleted after it drew backlash from the public. He then posted what seems like an unapologetic clarification saying that he made the post due to his frustration that Metro Manila is under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) again.
Hontiveros stressed that a simple scolding is not enough to reprimand Ludovica. “As a QC resident for the last 35 years, I will personally work to hold this public official accountable for inciting violence vs civilians. Sino ngayon ang terorista?” the senator said.
Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte, who appointed Ludovica as a security officer, condemned his action and tagged it as “inappropriate” and “irresponsible. Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Archie Gamboa, meanwhile, said that a shoot-to-kill policy for quarantine violators does not exist.
